Favorites: Golden Globes 2016

Why watch the Golden Globes if you’re not going to obsess over the amazing and glamorous red carpet looks?!! Below are my favorites from the night and there’s an array of colors, patterns, and textures. Normally, I’m a very simple gal and I love neutrals but I fell in love with all of the bold colors and dramatic silhouettes this year.

Gush over these looks with me!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Red Rocks

We went to Colorado to attend our friends’ wedding on Thanksgiving so it was a great excuse to take a small trip and get out of town! The first few days we were there were super nice so we took advantage of the great weather to go sight see and explore! The weather took a great turn on Thanksgiving and started snowing though!

We drove from Denver to Colorado Springs so that we could check out a place called Garden of the Gods, which was a series of natural rock formations. They were so amazing to see in person so we had a great time! You don’t see things like this in LA!

White Off Shoulder

Went out for brunch with my sister and boyfriend one weekend so I wore this little number that I had recently purchased. I love off the shoulder blouses because they are so feminine and pretty. They do a great job of accentuating your neckline and shoulders.

This particular blouse has fun billowy sleeves with a tie detail. It is rather long on me since it’s a one-size-fits-all type of shirt, but I just tucked it in so that I have a bit of shape. One of the drawbacks to being petite I suppose, but I can handle it!ย Don’t be afraid to wear what you want!ย IMG_3999IMG_4004IMG_4005OUTFIT

Shades of Green

IMG_3919

I’m a sucker for pretty colored walls, like any other blogger, and this lovely shade of green on the Anthropologie store in the Americana was calling my name!

I just so happened to have worn my olive green colored trench that day so it was perfect! It was a rather hot day in particular so a lightweight trench, distressed denim shorts, and comfy sandals was all that I could handle. But then again, you probably won’t see me completely dressed up on a regular basis anyways!

I also bumped into my wonderful boss at Anthropologie that day so it was funny!

Mesa Steps Beach in Santa Barbara

This was one of the places we stopped at on our Santa Barbara weekend. It was a local beach that you could only access with a long set of stairs in a residential area. We wanted to just relax and lay out so this was definitely a much needed day!

There were tons of dogs there having the best time and it was so fun watching them run around! We would love to stop by here again the next time we’re in town so that we could enjoy it a little more!

Coming back up the stairs to our car was a different story…But I took a few breaks to take in the scenery while I was catching my break. ๐Ÿ™‚

Foodie Friday !

Providence

It’s been quite a birthday week for me full of food, sweets, and surprises!! My boyfriend made dinner plans for us on Monday night and didn’t tell me where we were going, even though I had my guesses! AND I sort of guessed correctly! ๐Ÿ™‚

When we drove up to Providence on Melrose, I was jumping on the inside through all of the excitement because it’s one of the places I’ve been dying to try but it’s definitely a budget breaker! I guess we save a lot, so it was due for us to come here. I was tremendously happy he chose this for my birthday dinner!

Providence is definitely an experience rather than just a simple ol’ meal. They offer three tasting menus, all of which can come with a wine pairing option, which I did not partake in. The last menu was called the Chef’s menu which consisted of nearly 20 dishes and our server advised us that it would take about 3-4 hours to complete. Considering it was already around 8 pm when we started dinner, I wasn’t too fond of the idea of eating until nearly midnight! On a Monday, no less! With that in mind, we decided on the signature and seasonal tasting menu, which was their most popular anyways.

All of the dishes are shown below!

Even though these dishes look minuscule and tiny, having 10-15 of them definitely filled me up! Every single item was so unique and amazing that I hardly have words to describe them. The presentation, the flavors, and the creativity are just completely phenomenal! I would love to come back and try their chef’s menu but definitely would need to commit to the lengthy time requirement!

My favorite dish was called the Ugly Bunch, which is the bowl of uni (sea urchin), surf clams, some herbs, gold flakes, and a light panna cotta underneath. It was so rich yet light and so decadent all at once! My boyfriend really loved the wagyu beef dish, so that might have been his favorite next to the Ugly Bunch.

If you ever consider coming here, I would highly recommend it as an experience you’ll never forget. It is indescribable and probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had. They undoubtedly put such thought into every dish, every ingredient, and take the time to describe it to you when they bring it out. THUMBS UP FROM ME!

Ostrich Land

The boyfriend and I took a weekend getaway to Santa Barbara and Solvang about 2 months ago and made a pit stop at Ostrich Land which is right outside of Solvang. I had the BEST time here feeding the emus and ostriches! They were super cute and pretty fun to hang out with. You do have to be extra careful and hold on tight to the food when you feed them though!

It was really warm that weekend so I kept it super cool and casual with a lightweight sweater, distressed boyfriend shorts, comfy sandals, and a hat.

I know I’ve been MIA lately and I promise to make an effort to post more often! I have tons of pictures of outfits that I need to post up so I’ll be doing that in the next few weeks! Keep an eye out!

Wore this simple outfit on a really hot day out with my sister. I purchased this tank from Madewell on sale and love that it’s almost like a trapeze top feel, so it’s very loose and comfy. I paired it with my Topshop jeans with knee cut outs and Converse sneakers so that I could spend the day walking around and shopping for more clothes! ๐Ÿ™‚IMG_3461 IMG_3462

Foodie Friday

LA COUNTY FAIR

Went to the county fair over the past weekend and had fried foods galore! We had your must-have fair foods from hot dogs, roasted corn, nachos, to DEEP FRIED OREOS! I was completely stuffed that day but also found room in my tummy to inhale a huge root beer float! I think it was the only meal I had for the day, but it was all worth it. This is the reason why I go to the gym, right?IMG_3800

AMARA’S KITCHEN

Since we gorged on junk food at the fair on Saturday, we decided to go for a healthy brunch on Sunday. I had been wanting to try Amara’s Kitchen in Highland Park, Los Angeles, so what better time?!

My sister and I decided to share the paleo pancakes which came with strawberries, whipped cream, and pistachio as toppings. Drizzle some maple syrup on it and the dish is complete! Even though these had the whipped cream and syrup on them, I still felt like they were the healthiest pancakes I’ve ever had! We also shared the green eggs, which had poached eggs, pesto, and a variety of veggies, such as sweet potato chips, greens, cabbage, and avocado. We added on some iced teas and their Dandy Latte to complete our meal! Felt like I erased all the fried stuff I had eaten the day before!

Julian Serrano

Went to Vegas for a bachelorette party over the long weekend and we made reservations for Julian Serrano in the Aria Hotel. It’s a Spanish tapas restaurant and we had heard good things about it!

We got tons of dishes to try out and everything was so flavorful and delicious. My favorite for the night was the black rice, which is almost like a squid ink risotto with seafood and dollops of delicious garlic aioli that was unbelievable! I would definitely come back to try the dishes we weren’t able to.
